Mama Red & the Dark Blues Quintet – Acoustic Show
Mama Red & the Dark Blues are bringing you their new tunes raw and acoustic, so make sure you’re strapped into your seats because these ones are pure hard hitting harmony.
If you’re in for a heapin’ helpin’ of country influenced heartstring tuggers you’ve come to the right place.
Mama Red will be calling out to the sister circle with new tales of darkness and destiny. The tunes speak of fear and fierceness, redemption and rebirth and painful, radical truth.
We’re stripping it right back this time to feature heavy vocal harmonies…if the Dixie Chicks and Nick Cave had a love child, she would almost certainly be a Dark Blue.
Harry Deluxe, Melanie Bainbridge & Therese Cruise are backed, acoustically, by the incredible, Almore James on guitar, and John Wilson on bass.
This August we’re also sharing the stage with very special guests Aminah Hughes and Ben Matthews.
“A strong, soulful singer” (All About Jazz), Aminah appeared on eleven albums in Australia and Europe before producing her debut solo album, Blue Wooden Boat.
Recorded in Ireland, USA, Australia and Germany it has earned her a number of accolades including a nomination at The Independent Music Awards in New York.
She has played international festivals and shared stages with Tommy Emmanuel, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Declan O’Rourke and Waterboys fiddler, Steve Wickham.
Praised for her “powerful vulnerability, enhanced by stunning, soulful vocals” (Musical Notes Global, NY), she is joined this evening by jazz pianist and contemporary composer, Ben Matthews, who has spent a decade performing as a sideman and bandleader with some of Australia’s most illustrious musicians.
